Cycle #2 Quiz weight

Hi 12s,

We have been watching and reading the following:

The libretto( words to the play) 'Into The Woods' by Sondheim
The video of Into The Woods (Broadway)

You are to choose 1 character (for whom you have not done a cycle before) and chart their hero's journey. 

Due: at the end of the block Nov. 29.

If you are away with WC, you have an extension to next class.

Cycle 1 in class today!

Hello 12s,

Last class you received Mono myth notes and we began charting a fairy tale according to this paradigm.

Today you will submit alone or in a group up to 3 people, the following:

Re-read a classic fairy tale with which you are familiar.

Then, chart the elements of the Monomyth as they occur in your fairy tale.

Be careful not to simply re-tell the story.

Place the elements (with headings) around the cycle as they occur.

Note:

·      What are the qualities/ character traits when the hero is at Home?

·      What is the Known realm like?

·      What is the call to adventure?

·      What is the Gate Keeper?

·      What is the Mystical realm like?

·      List the preliminary trials (what is he/she learning as a result of each?)

·      Who are are the helpers and hinderers (how do we know? Remember it isn’t ‘good guys and bad guys’)

·      What is the Supreme ordeal? (faced alone/transformative) Consider how what they have learned and who they are makes them perfect for this challenge.

·      Is there Flight? What is it?

·      When they return home how are they different/transformed (list traits) What have they learned? How are they a benefit to self and to others?

Remember to chart all of this in chart format.
