Setting up your Pecha Kucha on PPT (timing)

Hi all,

May 23: Peer edit/draw cards for order of presentation

For homework:
  •  Break your pecha kucha idea into sections (20ish)
  • Begin  to choose images and connect them to your sections
Consider, what do you want your audience to feel or understand at each step of your Pecha Kucha, let your words and images work together to achieve this aim.

·    May 27,29,31 PECHA KUCHA PRESENTATIONS.

There were some questions around how to get the PPT to advance slides every 20 seconds automatically. Here is what I found:
It seems like you have to:
  1.  set up all your slides
  2. create you transition style
  3. De-select manual advance
  4. then set the timing to 20 second auto advance
  5. Then run slide show

POINTS OF CLARIFICATION ON PECHA KUCHA PREP.

Hi all,

I have had a couple of questions about the assignment that I thought might be on your minds  too  so am posting them here. Please  feel free to email over the weekend if you  require  more clarification. Please do read  the assignment  and its  rubric carefully.

"1. Do I need to memorize what I am going to say on my script during the presentation?"

YOU NEED TO HAVE A CLEAR IDEA  OF THE FLOW AND SUBSTANCE OF YOUR PRESENTATION. MEMORIZATION IS ONE WAY TO GO, BUT CUE CARDS WITH 3-5 POINTS MAX. IS LIKELY BEST. REHEARSAL WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. THE ONLY MARKING I AM DOING  IS ON YOUR ACTUAL PRESENTATION.

"2. Are you going to mark my script/what I am going to say?"

THERE ARE NO WRITTEN COMPONENTS OF THIS ASSIGNMENT. IF YOU LOOK AT IT, NOWHERE IN THE COMPREHENSIVE POST  DOES IT SAY "SUBMIT SCRIPT". FOR NEXT CLASS, I WANT YOU TO HAVE AN OUTLINE OF YOUR PLAN (AT LEAST). FOR SOME THAT WILL BE  A FLOW CHART, FOR OTHERS THIS WILL BE A LIST OR A SCRIPT, STILL OTHERS WILL COMPLETE THE FIRST  DRAFT  OF THE ENTIRE ASSIGNMENT  THIS WEEKEND. EACH OF THESE COULD WORK FOR YOU DEPENDING ON WHAT OTHER COMMITMENTS YOU HAVE GOING ON AHEAD OF  PRESENTATION DAY.

"3. Is it alright if I can change my theme statement?"

YES.

Wishing you all a peaceful and productive weekend.
Ms.S

Research Pecha Kucha stemming from your non-fiction book

Project
You will produce a Pecha Kucha demonstrating your appreciation for the theme/intent of your book.  You may do this in one of two ways:
1.     You may choose any subject which interests/inspires you and which stems from  this theme and explore that.
2.     You may do a synthesis of your theme as it exists both inside your book and outside your book. (this might be a movie, song, poem, essay, article or it may be occurring in the world around us.)
(think in terms of our artifact share)
A word of caution: YOU MUST NOT DO A SUMMARY OF YOUR BOOK. THIS IS NOT AN ASSIGNMENT TO TELL YOUR PLOT. Rather, it is you demonstrating your appreciation of theme
·      Research your topic/analyze the way/s it links to the theme.
·      Produce a works referenced page (correct APA format); this must include your images
·      Present your findings in Pecha Kucha format (see previous post)

Important dates:
