Draft timeline - June. See also the post prior to this post please

Below you will find a working draft of our upcoming activities. I will be making additions/clarifications to things but I wanted you to be able to plan your time ahead. Please place these important dates/assignments into your personal calendars. Let  me know  asap of any conflicts you see.  Thanks, Ms.S

Timeline

April 12th:
·      AP discussion
·      Differentiated Non-Fiction unit overview (hand out reading log sheets)
·      ULC short intro. By Ms. Love (recommendation) Choose/sign up with Ms.S your book.
·      8 Days to read and complete questions 1-4 (see questions below) Due April 24th. You should be at least 50 pages into your book by the 24th.
·      End date for reading is May 13th
April 16:
·      In-class Synthesis essay test.
April 18: Counsellor coming (verification forms)

                Reading your books!
April 24th:
·      Reading -log homework check
·      Fill in class chart re: topic
·      Book share small group by logical topic groupings (be ready to express why you are in a particular group. (no more than 5 to a group.) Discuss points of intersection  and non-intersection of ideas and attitudes and foci.
April 26th:
·       Reading-log homework check 
·      Meet with someone who is reading a book that is very different in idea/attitude/area of focus. (Discuss provided questions)
·      Paragraph in class (Quiz) based on discussion (see board)
·      Reading time
·      (longer weekend) Complete Questions 5-7 (quiz weight) Due May1.
May 1:
·      Submit questions 5-7
·      Fill in class chart re: core theme/s from your book
·      Discuss the big ideas/round table
·      Bring linking acquisition idea draft for ULC (bring ideas and argument for it for next class.)HMWK
·      Read
·      Books must be complete by May 13th
May 3:
·      Small group share your acquisition idea/rationale (discuss merits/demerits of acquisition. Team may add suggestions.)
·      Write a short paragraph re: what it is and why Or if your discussion changed your mind how has it done so?
·      Acquisition list must be complete by May 13th   
May 9th:
·      Review key concepts/themes from your book.
·      What question/s arise from your reading?
·      How do you personally connect to it or how does it connect to the  larger society?
·      Intro. Pecha Kucha (test weight)
o   ULC for research May 13 and 15th
o   Bring your own devices 13th- May 31st.
o   ULC recommendation due May 13th
o   Topic due by May 15h

May 13:
·      ULC Pecha Kucha research/talk
·      Sign up your acquisition choice  
May 15:
·      Sign up your Pecha Kucha topic
·      Work period in ULC
·      Long weekend return with a draft of your Pecha Kucha
May 21 and May 23:
·      Homework check draft    
·      Rehearse Pecha Kucha/modify
·      Peer edit/eval. Re: rubric
·      Sign up for order/date
May 27,29,31:
·      Pecha Kucha presentations


June is for overt provincial exam prep. (poetry/devices/formatting review/hacks/ synthesis and original comp. practice)
·      Grad assembly June 4 at 2:00
·      Grad June 5th (no classes for you that day watch your timing/details)
·      Provincial Exam June 24th 9:00 - 12:00 Info. on where to go for your exam



Non-Fiction Differentiated Book Study questions:
Due: # 1-4 April 24 (hmwk)

1.     What is the book title, topic and who is its author?
2.     What prompted you to choose this book?
3.     How is the book constructed or what is the layout/formatting?
4.      What is the diction? Provide examples and discuss the effect of the diction.
  Due:  #5-7 May 1(Quiz)

5.      Who is the audience and how do we know?
6.     What is/are the purpose/s of this text? What makes you say so?
7.     How do you personally connect to the book, the author, the content and the themes?
